Distribution
From film festivals to independent releases, social media, in particular, has changed the game regarding distribution opportunities. How have the ways you share or distribute your work changed as a result of trends or changes in social media?
According to an article by Mandalit Barco, "popularity has spurred streaming services to fund documentaries like never before", and documentaries are making more money than ever at the box office. This gives streaming services such as Netflix and Hulu an incentive to invest in documentary programming, therefore increasing the ability to create films. Documentaries, especially short-films, are also able to be distributed through social media at a faster rate and reach larger audiences.
